I chose Outbreathing of Life by Lenore Tawney because of its understated complexity. At first glance it seems pretty straightforward, two right angles with lines meeting at a central point. After a while, I began to consider the details and how they relate to my job as a hair dresser. On one side, the client; their desires, their goals, and their expectations. These days, social media plays such a huge role in all of our lives in one way or another. It is the first time that clients have such an abundant resource of inspiration, and are able to really find what they are looking for in such an exact way. The other side represents me; my expertise, my opinion, and my experience. I have over 10 years of experience in the hair industry, 10 years for my knowledge of hair to grow more complex with each client. I have learned what works, and what doesn’t; what is right for one person, may not be right for another. I have come to appreciate details and subtleties, and I have learned to communicate better. As the lines on both sides travel inward they get closer and closer until they meet in the middle. The central point represents a final product, a meeting point of expectation and expertise. This image represents the work that I do because I feel happiest, and most successful when my experience and creativity meet your expectations and help you achieve your goals.
